Frequently Asked Questions

Who are good candidates for this procedure?

This technique of semi-permanent makeup lets the Microblading artist create HD/3D looking eyebrows. Microblading is perfect for people who would like to enhance existing eyebrows, fill in over plucked eyebrows, and people who’s brows are non-existent. There are a few diseases which disqualify a client from getting this procedure done, please contact us with any questions regarding chronic or acute diseases.

I am pregnant and/or nursing, am I able to have this procedure done?

Unfortunately, no. During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through a lot of changes. We can not guarantee that your body, while you are pregnant or nursing, will react to the Microblading procedure the same way your body would usually react when you are not pregnant or nursing. We do not want to risk a bad result due to hormonal changes or processes. Pregnancy (and nursing) can influence your tolerance for pain, and affect the  texture of your skin. But foremost, at no point do we want to risk you or your child’s health.

How long will the healed result last?

Microblading treatments are considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and may need to be refreshed every 1-2 years. Frequency of sessions depends on a number of factors including: the pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results CAN NOT be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your second session and make any changes necessary. Multiple sessions are normal for microblading procedures, with each new procedure requiring a minimum of 2 visits. Your second session can be booked no sooner than 4 weeks from the first session. The first and second session are both included in the initial procedure price. Additional sessions will be charged according to our current pricing. Previously tattooed areas will generally always require additional appointments.

What exactly is a microblade?

The microblade is not really a blade, it consists of tiny needles attached to each other side by side. They come in different sizes as far as number of needles and thickness of each needle.

How do we measure the “perfect” brow?

In Microblading we use a special measurement tool: the Golden Ratio caliper. In mathematics, the Golden Ratio equals 1.618. Since at least 2400 years the Golden Ratio has been found to be used in architecture, paintings, book design, music, and nature. Artists like Plato, Leonardo da Vinci, and Pythagoras have used the Golden Ratio in their work because it is considered to be aesthetically beautiful (Golden Ratio, Wikipedia).

What should I do before my procedure?

If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.   You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we can take into consideration the shape you desire. If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least 3 days before your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, we can remove them. If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure. We require our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen. Do not drink any alcohol the night before and day of your appointment and limit the amount of caffeine you consume. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure. It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

How long is the appointment?

In general, the procedure lasts 1.5 to 2 hours but could take up to 3 hours depending on several factors. For example, if you choose to use a numbing agent before the procedure, the 20 to 30 minutes that it takes for the numbing agent to take effect will add to your appointment time.  Also, we will have to work together to draw perfect  and symmetrical eyebrows that is to your liking. When the ideal eyebrows are drawn, then the Microblading expert will move on to the next stage of the procedure.

Is a touch-up session 4 to 6 weeks after the initial procedure really necessary?

Yes, it is. Microblading is a process. In most cases it takes a second session to optimize the result and perfect the eyebrow. At Beauty Blade Microblading, you will not incur an additional cost for this touch-up if you do it within a 4-6 week time frame.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Preferred method of payment is Cash, Credit Card ($7 service fee), Venmo, and PayPal.
